Infusion Angles NDA Policy -
How should I communicate my idea if I have Intellectual Property
(IP) concerns?
In “pitching” your idea to Infusion Angels or any investment firm
you should aim to keep the discussions general enough so as not to
divulge any IP that you feel is patentable, but with a sufficient
level of specificity so that we understand what you are trying to
accomplish. Negotiating this balance can be tricky, but it is a
worthwhile skill to develop because -- for a myriad of reasons we’d
be happy to explain in person -- Angels and VCs do not enter into
NDAs at the initial presentation phase.
That having been said, if you really feel you possess a
fundamentally unique idea such that divulging it in even general
terms would be undesirable, patent it. This will allows you to
disclose the idea while giving you the peace of mind that it is
legally protected.
Note that NDAs and any other legal matters are resolved when you
move beyond the “pitch” phase (e.g., a second level of due
diligence, the decision to invest in the venture, etc).
We hope this explanation addresses any IP concerns you may have.
This can admittedly be a complex topic, so feel free to contact us
if you have any questions or reservations (please see below).
